After playing V Rising for a while, you may find a whole host of reasons to create some new servers.

Inevitably, this will mean that you’ll have some old servers lying around that you’ll want to delete.

Stunlock hasn’t got an official method of doing so, which is where we come in!

At Hostari, we believe that both setting up and deleting your V Rising servers should be as quick and easy as possible, which is why we offer affordable, easy-to-use dedicated server hosting for V Rising players.

In this article, we’ll show you how to both delete and set up servers in V Rising, as well as some tips about what you should look for in a V Rising Server Hosting Provider.

How do you delete a V Rising Server?

With V Rising’s lack of an easy method for server deletion, this process may seem a bit drawn out and complicated.

However, following these simple steps will make the process much clearer:

Step 1: Press Windows + R to bring up the Run program.

Step 2: Enter the following command into the window- C:\Users\[YOUR USER PROFILE]\\AppData\LocalLow\Stunlock Studios\Vrising\Saves\V1

If you don’t know your user profile’s name, then you can just type ‘%AppData%’ into the Run program and click through to the saves folder manually.

Step 3: Here you will find files with random letters as the file names. These are your server save files. You should delete the file to remove the server, though it’s pretty much impossible to tell which server is which from the name.

Because of this, we’d recommend backing up each server — unless you don’t care about any of them — in case you delete ones that you need.

Step 4: Load up V Rising and enter your server. If you’ve deleted the correct server file, there should be a red X next to it now. When you click it, you should be given the option to delete the server.

Want a much easier solution? Hostari’s dedicated V Rising servers are easy to delete and set up. You can have a server deleted, and a new one in its place with just a few clicks.

How do you set up a V Rising Server?

Once you’ve deleted your old, unused server - why not go ahead and make a new one?

There are several different ways to start your own V Rising server. Using Hostari’s dedicated servers is the easiest option, however, you can also set one up yourself manually.

In this step-by-step guide, we’ll show you how to go about it, and make the process a little bit simpler for you.

We don’t recommend running your server on the PC you’ll be playing the game on. This can introduce some stability and connection issues. It’s far better to dedicate another machine to run the server.

That’s why server hosting from providers like Hostari is so useful - as we understand that most players can’t dedicate an entire PC to host their server.

Now onto the manual set-up process!

Step 1: In Steam, go to "Tools" in the library and search for "V Rising"

Step 2: Here you should find “V Rising Dedicated Server." Install and open the folder.

Step 3: Now make a copy of the file “start_server_example”

Step 4: Next, navigate to VRisingServer_Data/StreamingAssets/ from the VRisingDedicatedServer folder, and copy the entire “Settings” folder

Step 5: Go to the local user settings for the server, which can be found at C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\LocalLow\Stunlock Studios\VRisingServer\. Paste the "Settings" folder here, and make an empty folder called “Saves”. Now open the "Settings" folder.

Step 6:  Now, right-click and "Edit the ServerHostSettings.json file". Here we can configure some important server settings.

After "Name", replace "V Rising Server" with your server name, Leaving the quotation marks intact. It’s here you can set a password for the server in the "Password": "" field.

If you don't want your server publicly listed, change "ListOnMasterServer" from true to false. You can close"ServerHostSettings" now.

Step 7: Finally, let’s go about port forwarding! This step opens up your network to incoming traffic from players looking to connect to your server.

The method here will entirely depend on the hub or router you’re using. Consult with your router manufacturer or ISP to find out exactly how to do this.

Once you’ve got into your Port Forwarding menu, open ports 9876-9877 UDP.

If you have a firewall, check that those ports are open there.

Remember, port forwarding can be dangerous if not done properly as it can leave your network vulnerable to unwanted traffic. Check with your internet provider for the method to open these ports, as every provider has a different method.

Step 8: From there, you should be able to open the game client and join your server!

Renting a server means you don’t have to worry about the challenges that come with running a server.

For example, you don’t have to worry about port-forwarding to play with others online, and you can avoid the energy costs of running another computer for your server
